Matilda kahl negotiated with zara for her work uniform

42,000+ shares later, Saatchi & Saatchi art director Matilda Kahl has women everywhere talking about her simplified approach to office dressing. Ad Age interviewed Kahl about her work uniform—black pants, white blouse and leather rosette—that she has been wearing, every day, for the last three years.

For those questioning whether it was the same exact white shirt and pants, Kahl told Ad Age, "No cheating! They are all exactly the same and have been for almost three years, up until a week ago. The shirts had gotten worn out, others stained....So last weekend I spent two days on a rather intense hunt for a new hero shirt. I finally found it at Zara." Of course Kahl needed to order enough to last her another year or so, and after speaking with the store manager, she, "ordered 15 of them, negotiated down the price (as one always should) and walked home with my wardrobe for next year's 254 working days."

Kahl also thanks her uniform for helping with some of her best work professionally—and it almost helped her get a raise. "A friend at work told me that my previous VP at Y&R had come to her a few years ago and been seriously concerned about my well-being after having seen me wearing the same clothes week after week. So worried in fact that she had been working to get me a raise so that I could afford to start dressing properly. Ultimately, I never got that get-yourself-together check, but it would've indeed been amazing."

But Kahl doesn't extend her uniform life to the weekends, "I'm very into dresses... I've never had a problem with being a little overdressed at parties, so during weekend nights I usually run with high heels and lots of colors and patterns."
